Mobile, mobile, mobile! Tom Thompson, of KPI Consulting, discusses J2MEıs PIM API in depth, showing how Java programmers can (finally!) access personal information (local filesystem, removeable media, address book, to-do, etc.) on Java-enabled mobile phones. Using the two component APIs ratified in JSR 75, developers are now free to engineer productivity-enhancing apps that access, manipulate, and act on personal record data, as well as distributed applications that synchronize on-phone resources with corporate and public records accessed cross-net. A great followup to Tomıs recent J2ME article on displaying GIF images.
