Editor's Note

Top of the media tree, this week, is an interview by .Net guru Mark Baker with database guru Jackie Goldstein, who describes XML-friendly functionality in ADO.NET — .Netýs data-access component. The ADO.NET tools complement native .NET XML support (parsing, XSLT transform capability, etc.), adding powerful features such as asynchronous client-server support for javascript (AJAX) and the ability to infer table structure from XML document hierarchy. Goldstein also discusses the anticipated evolution of ADO.NET over the next several years, as Microsoftýs rumored ýOrcasý project comes online.

In his "ASP.NET to the Max" column, this issue, Dino Esposito discusses user validation strategies in ASP.NET 2.0.
